Attending local community events

Look at posters people hang up and see what's going on in your town! Then the key part, PUT IT ON YOUR CALENDAR AND ACTUALLY GO. There is endless joy in meeting your neighbors and getting to be a part of the fun. Often these events are cheap/free and worth their weight in gold.
